South Africa overcome rivals New Zealand in ‘intense’ Vancouver clash

South Africa have started their SVNS Vancouver campaign with a confidence-building 21-12 win over New Zealand in an “intense” clash on Friday afternoon at BC Place Stadium.

In rugby, there might be no rivalry more fierce than South Africa versus New Zealand. It’s a match-up built on respect and admiration, but also a compulsion to be the best on the day.

The Springboks beat the All Blacks in last year’s Rugby World Cup final, but the All Blacks Sevens claimed some revenge on behalf of New Zealand at SVNS Cape Town in December.

But the form book goes out the window whenever these two nations meet. The ferocity of the occasion very rarely disappoints and that was no different on Day One in Vancouver.

Looking to kick-start their quest for Cup final glory with a win, the two teams met at the giant Canadian venue on a chilly Friday afternoon. But in the end, it was South Africa’s day.

Selvyn Davids scored a double as the Blitzboks ran away with a 21-12 win – the score looking slightly more favourable for New Zealand after a Cody Vai try in the 12th minute.

“Beating New Zealand in the first game of a tournament is good, just to get the lungs pumping,” Davids told RugbyPass.

“It was a great game for the boys. We put our all out there on the field. To get away with a win is quite special.

“It’s quite intense playing against New Zealand, we love playing against them as well. They are a great side, they have quality players, they have everything in their squad – speed, the agility, the skills, the big boys running hard at us.

“But to play against them is great just to measure ourselves against the best.”

South Africa were the first victor in the 2023/24 SVNS Series season. But after taking out Cup final glory in Dubai, the Blitzboks have been unable to match that feat of greatness.

Argentina have emerged as the team to beat on the series while South Africa have been unable to progress past the quarters in both of the last two events.

But the South Africans, who are still waiting for their last opportunity to qualify for Paris 2024, believe they’re tracking in the right direction.

“The win in Dubai was quite special. We had a slip going into Cape Town and then Perth btu we’re building quite nicely,” Davids said.

“We’re getting back to where we were and just to see the team growing day by day is something great. Just to get closer to each other every day is special.

“We’re quite a special bunch of guys and we love each other’s company.

“We’ve been working on our mistakes from the past two tournaments. The preparation went well down in South Africa.

“We just want to put out on the field. The hard work we put in in Stellenbosch, just to execute it on the field.”

AB7s go on to win the pool & are joined in the QFs by both GBR & IRE while the Boks come last & miss out. Never saw that coming tbh.

We need to get rid of Curry 35, Dickson 34, & Mikkelson 37. With them in the team, we are cumbersome, predictable, & slow. The setup with Curry & Dickson as our wingers/props is a dream come true for the likes of the Boks.

Without these three geriatrics, we won the Series Championship last season. With them in the AB7s this year, we won’t be winning in Madrid or in Paris. Guaranteed.

Leinster cleanse palette with record URC scoreline against Zebre

My name is Solenn Bonnet, and I am a single mother navigating the challenges of raising my two-year-old child while trying to make ends meet. I came across a trading platform that promised astonishing daily profits of 18%. The allure of such a high return on investment was too tempting to resist, and I found myself drawn into cryptocurrency trading. Excited by the prospect of financial freedom, I invested a significant amount of my savings, totaling over 5.7 BTC. However, what started as a hopeful venture quickly turned into a nightmare. The platform was a scam, and I lost everything I had invested. The emotional toll of this loss was immense; I felt devastated and helpless, struggling to provide for my child and keep up with my bills. In my desperate attempt to recover my funds, I sought help from various recovery experts. Unfortunately, I encountered numerous fraudulent individuals who claimed they could help me retrieve my lost money. Each time I reached out, I was met with disappointment and further scams, which only deepened my despair. Last year was one of the most challenging periods of my life, filled with anxiety and uncertainty about my financial future. Feeling overwhelmed and at a loss, I confided in a close friend from church about my situation. She listened compassionately and shared her own experiences with financial difficulties. Understanding my plight, she introduced me to Tech Cyber Force Recovery, a group of skilled hackers known for their expertise in recovering lost funds. Skeptical yet hopeful, I decided to reach out to them as a last resort. Their services came at a higher cost, but my friend generously offered to help me with a partial payment. I was amazed by how quickly they responded and began the recovery process. Their team was professional, efficient, and incredibly supportive throughout the entire ordeal. To my relief, they successfully recovered more than I had lost to those heartless scammers. This was truly transformative, and I felt a sense of relief and gratitude that I hadn’t felt in a long time. I strongly encourage anyone who has faced similar challenges or fallen victim to scams to reach out to Tech Cyber Force Recovery. If you’ve invested in a fraudulent platform like I did, they are highly capable of helping you reclaim your hard-earned money. Don’t lose hope; there is a way to recover what you’ve lost.
