South Africa's Rassie Erasmus begins mind games with England

No sooner had South Africa dumped World Cup hosts France out of their own tournament on Sunday in Paris than director of rugby Rassie Erasmus was switching his focus on semi-final opponents England in his own unique way.

The 2019 World Cup winning boss is famed for his activity online on X, where he uses the platform to drop subtle hints and potentially get in the mind of his opponents. That has been done in some frivolous ways during the course of the tournament, like solely following Scotland and Ireland before the two faced each other in the final match of Pool B. Well he has opted for the same ploy this week by now only following England.

It is hard to believe that Erasmus is going to spend the next week poring over England’s social media accounts in order to gain any kind of tactical advantage, but it does nevertheless send a message that he is focussed on his opponents this weekend and focussed only on them.

This is not exactly as hard hitting as mind games go, but it is just a subtle poke ahead of what is surely going to be some slightly more heavy-handed swipes over the coming week.

Erasmus has not yet addressed the upcoming semi-final, although Springboks head coach Jacques Nienaber did after the victory over France, describing the challenge as “massive”.

“I think it’s going to be a nice challenge,” he said ahead of a repeat of the 2019 final. “In knockouts anything can happen, like tonight I followed the England game when we were on the bus here. Also they (England) had a healthy lead and then Fiji came back and then they also pushed it right to the end. I think knockouts are going to be small margins right to the end.”

Looooove it, made me chuckle that press conference, predicted the England starting 23 bigged up the players and installed the boks as underdogs.. the journos are out for blood trying to paint him as a villain, they ask for this they want personality in fact they moan when they don’t get it and when they do they twist the narrative and they wonder why more players and coaches don’t do it. Cudos to Rassie he is the most astute coach out there.. as for the accusations on the HIA protocols well I wouldn’t be surprised if Jaco Johan makes a come back and shows the clips of head on head contact on PSDT, Bongi and Eben on that match something the TMO didn’t pick up but the videos are doing the rounds showing it . I hope the boks moer the English this weekend but also wouldn’t be surprised if England win, it is England at the end of the day

Standard fare for world rugby's leading clown, a truly sad, self obsessed ponce. We are not a great team by any stretch of the imagination and will lose by 10 to 15 points in the semi. The fact that we even got this far is an achievement in itself. NZ will eat SA for breakfast in the final assuming neutral officials.

Achievement??? What exactly has England achieved? You say you know your rugby, but let me tell you about the industry I know. It’s called media, advertising and money. English rugby generates more than double the amount of income from viewing rights and advertising than the next country. Their success has absolutely nothing to do with ability and everything to do with money. Yes, sorry to say but this wasn’t a coincidence of a draw, neither was the last RWC, it was money driven. This has not always been the case, but certainly in the last 10 years. So don’t highlight English achievements, unless you can highlight the financial backing that’s actually got them the easy route.

Not a great team? Try tier two team! As for The All Blacks eating the Springboks for breakfast……at least it will be a contest unlike Sa vs Eng this weekend. Wales would have given the Springboks a better fight than England.

Hello Nige. I have to admit I do enjoy your pain. To have a chuckle at your bitter hate and comments towards the most successful rugby nation ever. Yes, The Boks have a RWC success rate of 3/7 and very possibly 4/8. You jump from team to team, feeding off their possible glory against the mighty Boks and when they lose to the mighty, you find the next possible host. There is another creature that acts in a similar fashion. It’s called a parasite. Go on Nige, call me a boy, call me a girl, call me a nonce, tell me to drink my milk with mummy, actually search the dictionary and send something original, your posts are a copy and paste job. I’ll tell you this, you’re a disease and exactly what I would expect on a football forum. Hlala phansi inkwenkwe encinci.

Anyone with a name like Nigel must be a right Ponce! Your petticoat is showing in your petty insults to a wonderful rugby coach. Pity you’ve only got Borthwick…….

Journos keep trying to generate clicks with the name “Rassie Erasmus” in their headlines, even if there’s absolutely nothing to write about.

It makes me wonder how much revenue he is generating for them, and whether they owe him some royalties

Erasmus is a clown of note, we (that excludes the rugby dunce, puppy dog saffas) enjoy the laughs that he generates.

+ send a message that he is focussed on his opponents this weekend and focussed only on them +

now if that’s not a revelation …. whom else would a coach be focussed on in the build up of a SF game?

It could be that everybody will write off England including the Bok players. Start thinking about the game two weeks off. Turn up expecting a walk in the park. Thats when you get big upsets.

But I dont think the coaching ticket will let that happen. Too much street smarts for that.

Leinster cleanse palette with record URC scoreline against Zebre

My name is Solenn Bonnet, and I am a single mother navigating the challenges of raising my two-year-old child while trying to make ends meet. I came across a trading platform that promised astonishing daily profits of 18%. The allure of such a high return on investment was too tempting to resist, and I found myself drawn into cryptocurrency trading. Excited by the prospect of financial freedom, I invested a significant amount of my savings, totaling over 5.7 BTC. However, what started as a hopeful venture quickly turned into a nightmare. The platform was a scam, and I lost everything I had invested. The emotional toll of this loss was immense; I felt devastated and helpless, struggling to provide for my child and keep up with my bills. In my desperate attempt to recover my funds, I sought help from various recovery experts. Unfortunately, I encountered numerous fraudulent individuals who claimed they could help me retrieve my lost money. Each time I reached out, I was met with disappointment and further scams, which only deepened my despair. Last year was one of the most challenging periods of my life, filled with anxiety and uncertainty about my financial future. Feeling overwhelmed and at a loss, I confided in a close friend from church about my situation. She listened compassionately and shared her own experiences with financial difficulties. Understanding my plight, she introduced me to Tech Cyber Force Recovery, a group of skilled hackers known for their expertise in recovering lost funds. Skeptical yet hopeful, I decided to reach out to them as a last resort. Their services came at a higher cost, but my friend generously offered to help me with a partial payment. I was amazed by how quickly they responded and began the recovery process. Their team was professional, efficient, and incredibly supportive throughout the entire ordeal. To my relief, they successfully recovered more than I had lost to those heartless scammers. This was truly transformative, and I felt a sense of relief and gratitude that I hadn’t felt in a long time. I strongly encourage anyone who has faced similar challenges or fallen victim to scams to reach out to Tech Cyber Force Recovery. If you’ve invested in a fraudulent platform like I did, they are highly capable of helping you reclaim your hard-earned money. Don’t lose hope; there is a way to recover what you’ve lost.
