The 24-year-old has joined Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu and Ruben van Heerden in signing on for another three years.

Roos is already an established figure in the United Rugby Championship after making his debut three years ago, winning the title in 2022 and being crowned the URC players’ player of the year the same season.

The 108kg No8 also has earned five caps for the Springboks, to go with over 50 appearances for the Stormers, who currently sit in fifth place in the URC.

Roos started and scored in the Stormers’ 44-21 win over the Dragons on Friday, as they pursue a top-four finish to book a home quarter-final.

“My rugby career has been transformed here at the DHL Stormers and playing for this team means a lot to me,” Roos said.

“We have still got so much that we can achieve together and I want to play a central role in the future success that is to come,” he said.

Stormers director of rugby John Dobson added: “Evan has been simply sensational since joining us three years ago and at just 24, there is still plenty more to come from him in a DHL Stormers jersey.

“He brings physicality, pace and most of all a fantastic attitude to everything he does and we look forward to watching him continue to grow in our system.

“These extensions and a few more that will be announced soon show that the key players in this squad are committed to our vision and have bought-in to build something special over the next few years, which is very exciting,” he said.
