Test hopeful Alex Nankivell extends stay with Munster
Munster Rugby have confirmed that centre Alex Nankivell has signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at the province until at least 2029.
The uncapped 29-year-old joined Munster from the Chiefs in the summer of 2023 and immediately established himself as a key member of the squad.
Last season, Nankivell made a huge contribution and featured in 20 games, earning three Player of the Match awards. He capped off the season with appearances for the Barbarians against South Africa and Wales.
A hugely influential and popular member of the squad, he has made 58 Munster appearances to date and won both the Bank of Ireland Men’s Player of the Year and Virgin Media Supporters’ Players Of The Year awards at the 2026 Munster Rugby Awards.
“Alex is a highly valued and respected member of the squad who has made a massive contribution both on and off the pitch since joining Munster,” said Munster Rugby General Manager Ian Costello.
“We are delighted that he has committed his future to the club and look forward to seeing him continue to develop as a player and build on his performances in a Munster jersey.
“He has ambitions to play at international level, and we hope to see him realise that potential in the near future.”
