In a backstage meeting captured between Hearn and the YouTube personality turned boxer, the 42-year-old pushed Williams’ name as the ‘fight for you’ with the drawcard of a big rugby audience.

“You know the fight for you?” Hearn asked Paul in the video that has surfaced on social media.

“The fight for you. Sonny Bill Williams.

“In Australia, on a Sunday afternoon. Prime time here in the US, a huge global audience of rugby.

“I mean, and it’s a good fight, like you know, he’s a bit bigger than you.”

Paul asked if Williams was a heavyweight, to which Hearn said the former All Black could adjust and move down to Paul’s weight class.

“He is, but I reckon he can come down. I reckon he could make cruiserweight or just above.

“About 200 [pounds].”

During the Super Round broadcast on Stan Sport, Williams told his co-commentators that Paul’s people had been in touch with his about negotiations for a possible fight in August.

“I’m maybe looking at August, getting back in the ring,” Williams told Nine and Stan Sport.

“Jake Paul, his people have reached out to mine and they’re talking so who knows. The main thing is I’m very excited and very grateful to be back in the ring, on Stan, boxing.”
