'I wouldn't call it safe': Robertson on why there are no debutants in his All Black side

This is a team that will beat the Poms easily. “Keep the ball alive” and quick ball at the breakdown, will give our backs a huge front foot advantage. A game that will be played “At such a pace, the Poms have never experienced, from the kick off” “The Ambush at Forsythe Barr” Alex Mitchell and Marcus Smith stand between the All Blacks and cricket score. I believe we will dominate the lineout and the scrum comprehensively. Huge win. All Blacks will be back at Number 1 by the end of the season.

Rassie Erasmus: 'Outspoken' Irish became full of themselves

I think the journo Ian Cameron is being a little irresponsible. The most part of the clip surrounded Rassie complimented the Irish. Cameron could have led with the heading: “I learned a hell of a lot when I was there” referring to his stint with Munster. The Munster players all seem to be unanimous in their praise for him. Once again it’s the journo’s having some puerile fun. Check out the choice of photo of Rassie too. Really? Jack Nicholson in the shining looks More passive.

My Kiwi friends are non existent but I have watched them play Wales in Wales. My take is you boys are about as knowledgeable as any nation about the game. It is your god. You also behave pretty well at the park. And you are one of few people to place national pride and performance above provinsial petty preferance. But, there must be one right. I have never heard your fams lose a RWC and not lay the blame elsewhere. In 1995 it was food poisoning, and the ref, and 14 men. Shelford had his nutsack rucked open and didn't winge and Meads gave his award to Du Preez at Twickenham when they called him the greatest. I once saw Gary Knight rinse the flour off his face after a flour bomb hit him from a plane up above. Nobody moaned.

South Africans are the masters of taking offence

The writer playfully pokes fun at an awesome Bok team and their oft-times thin-skinned supporters but there is a grain of truth to every good joke. It does not undermine the achievements of the team or their motivation to win. As a kiwi, I can appreciate the the Bok mentality of making it “personal” when in the heat of a test match. It is a key part of the reason AB and Bok teams have such historical success. Like all generalities (and humor), such things can be overplayed - and sometimes, the fans don’t recognize that the motivation to win ends at the final whistle when there is shared camaraderie.

As this article has already pointed out NZ and Sth Africa’s defining quality is the pressure they bring to bear every break down, every play. It's why I believe Sth Africa will beat Ireland on their hard grounds plus the altitude factor. My loyalty supports a NZ victory over England but ours is not so clear cut what with an untested regime, untried combinations and notorious All Black first test wobbles. It's ironic though in that I don't think the so called “whingeing Poms” will be as half the misery guts as Ireland will be if they were both to lose. Ireland and it's supporters have taken it to a new level since their rise up the ladder.

Seems to change his tune every few months. His Japanese contract ends before 2027 anyway, by which time he may be past it. In the meantime NZ can develop some much needed depth there by trying other players.

No Razor, it’s safe lol. Understandable given all the changes, but even so Perenara, Ioane and Perofeta can feel pretty lucky they’re anywhere near that squad, let alone in the starting team. Proctor getting up to speed and Roigard and Will Jordan coming back can’t come soon enough.

Respect isn’t the word, there is and always has been massive respect for England. I think he means ‘fear’ or ‘trepidation’ or ‘worry’. And no, he’ll never get those from the All Blacks, no matter how new or good or bad the coach is. I am a bit surprised at how many people think England are going to play boring 10 man watching paint dry rugby. They lit up the six nations with some great running footy. And they’re under the roof in Dunedin, a settled, confident side with a warm up test under their belts against a new side that came together 10 days ago. We’ll still stomp them like sick rats by 20+. The All Blacks will destroy them. But there’s respect there of course.

Well, it’s hard for the Home Unions to chisel anything from the ABs when you’ve only won 16 tests against them from a combined total tests played of 150. So why bother? Just get stuck in & smash us. You’ve got a lot of catching up to do.

Scott Barrett was the safe, obvious choice as All Blacks captain

The “sameness” was caused by appointing Hansen’s mini-me, Foster, above his competency level. Foster’s 50% win rate as Head Coach of the Chiefs for 8 years, should’ve been instructive. He & his personally selected & targeted coaches then proceeded to coach the ABs into mediocrity for the best part of 3 seasons before the NZRFU took drastic action. Foster left the ABs role with a 69.57% win rate; the worse of those who had coached the ABs for a minimum of 30 tests, & 40 tests. Out of the 25 ABs Head Coaches, he ranks 20=. It’s going to take a huge effort for Razor & Scooter to squeeze the Foster stink out of the ABs environment, spiritually, mentally, emotionally, & professionally. With Ardie, Reiko, & others using descriptors such as “energising” & “refreshing”, it seems they’re off to a good start. For now, just win. ABs by 1pt will do me.

G Fox winning percentage 90% average over 10 points per game DW Carter winning percentage 88% average over 10 points per game AR Hewson winning percentage 84% average over 10 per game AW Cruden winning percentage 88% CJ Spencer winning percentage 77 % average 8.3 points per game DB Clarke winning percentage 77 % average 8.3 points per game R Mounga winning percentage 70% average 8.3 points per game. Time to move on.
