Tigers confirm Danny Wilson role 'effective immediately'
Leicester Tigers haved confirmed that former Glasgow Warriors head coach Danny Wilson will join the club’s coaching team as a part-time consultant for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.
Wilson was in the top job at Glasgow for two and a half seasons and led the side to the knockout stages of the URC, and spent two years with the Scottish national team – which included the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan and back-to-back Six Nations campaigns.
He has also previously worked as part of coaching teams at Cardiff Blues, where he won the 2018 European Challenge Cup Final and was Head Coach of Wales Under-20s in 2012, who reached the World Cup Final.
Speaking about the addition of Wilson, Leicester Tigers Interim Head Coach Richard Wigglesworth said: “Danny is an experienced coach who will be a great addition to our team and club.”
“His detail on forwards and line outs is something that we are pleased to add to our group for the remainder of the season.”
Tigers are trying to fill a void following the mid-season departures of Steve Borthwick and Kevin Sinfield.
“We are always looking at ways to strengthen the club and this does that,” said Wigglesworth.
“Adding Danny to the staff is a huge positive in terms of not only what he offers but also in ensuring we are continuing to provide the best coaching we can for all players, as a group and individually, to keep developing players at all levels.”
