Like any sport, rugby has its heroes and its villains.

Dan Carter definitively lies in the former camp, and a brief incident towards the end of Racing 92’s match with Agen yesterday exemplified this.

Despite his side trailing in their opening match of the season against the newly promoted Agen, Carter finds the time to help an opposition player who is cramping up on the sideline.

Racing 92 ultimately succumbed to a 23-19 loss.

BB was hailed as the next carter and he’s the 2x best player . but the fact is he’s always been best off the bench . even at 34 carter was never that trash … if jordie doesn’t get injured we don’t see fainga until the 2nd half . and fainga isnt doing all he did in 20m . the fact is we had fekitoa and laumape at one point but the nzru is trash just like BBs play making … mounga comes back and the All Blacks will evolve again .

Yeh it was great to see Wallace carve it up, he was carrying a lot of muscle mass after his injury but looks to have ripped it leaner, so that speeds him up. The guy gets some incredible stats from short bench showings. Maybe they will keep him there for now. Lakai is a very good player too and gives us 7 cover if Ardie gets a niggle. As you say Lord developing too, big rangey locks like him take a while to mature. Overall the team is improving!

They are starting to look decent but if you look more closely at their unbeaten run it was sparked by a fair slice of luck against France and Scotland, low ranking opponents and arg resting key players. NZ will be the better measure of where they’re genuinely at.

The attack looks so much better with Fainga’anuku at 13. I’ve been calling for it for years, he’s the only 13 we’ve got that can free his outsides while bumping off tacklers for fun.

Yeh I agree England will be very hard to beat at Twickers. I guess Razor will be looking for a peak performance then. We may see a little rotation vs Scots to keep people fresh. 2 or 3 players. Proctor to the Bench, maybe Williams starts. Not that the Scots will be easy either though. Good to see Saturo play so well for the AB XV he is an excellent winger and will hopefully find his way into the top squad soon.

I think I'd probably go with Arundell at full back potentially but I haven't watched much of him to say how he would deal under the high ball. Think Freeman is just one hell of a finisher and he's so powerful and you've also got the cross field kick for him like we saw against Sarries recently.

I can see why they'd want Freeman at 13, his pace and power just makes a lot of sense there but as we saw yesterday he needs time to adapt in that position or he needs to play there for saints which currently wont happen as he's so good on the wing and they've got no furbank so Hendy is playing at full back. Do wonder if he moves there for the saints in a year or 2 though as they seem to have some more good young players coming through in the backs.

That's fair and I understand the view of having Ojomoh there. I'm slightly bias being a saints fan and think Dingwall would knit it together nicely, he doesnt have to have the X factor at 12. I feel the same with Fin Smith who should have been given this series again.

Lord had a good game didn’t he, perhaps his best showing in the black jersey. Which is not hard. But he’s still only 24. Sititi also made a big difference. I was beginning to think he was overhyped after his first season exploits, but he caused Ireland all manner of trouble with ball in hand.
