All Blacks head coach Steve Hansen suggested before the match that his reigning world champions were the underdogs and described South Africa as favourites going into the match.

He wasn’t wrong.

The Springboks produced a heroic performance to floor World Cup Champions the All Blacks 36-34 at the Westpac Stadium on Saturday.

The All Black scored six tries to the Springboks’ five. However the difference was truly the kicking. While Beauden Barrett missed four conversions, Handre Pollard added 11 points with the boot.

Hansen, Ian Foster and captain Kieran Read presented at the press conference after the All Blacks loss, and took the loss on the chin.
