Wales name team for Scotland test

Wales have made one change to their starting XV from the side that beat England, with Adam Beard coming into the side for the trip to Edinburgh to face Scotland on Saturday.

Beard, who featured in the last nine matches for Wales, returns to the starting line-up in place of the injured Cory Hill and will once again pack down alongside captain Alun Wyn Jones in the second row.

Rob Evans, Ken Owens and Tomas Francis again form the front-row with Josh Navidi, Justin Tipuric and Ross Moriarty named in the back-row.

Gareth Davies and Gareth Anscombe start at scrum-half and fly-half respectively with Hadleigh Parkes and Jonathan Davies forming the midfield partnership.

Josh Adams, George North and Liam Williams line-up in the back-three.

Elliot Dee, Nicky Smith and Dillon Lewis provide the front row cover on the bench with Jake Ball and Aaron Wainwright completing the forward contingent. Aled Davies, Dan Biggar and Owen Watkin provide the backline cover.

Internally, we really challenged ourselves this week around where we’re actually at as a rugby team

That’s good to hear as they haven’t been great this year. In fact no better than last - though they have got a lot more player development in - and still not after this second half.


Very disappointed that neither Friday game we into overtime after the season so far, both really should have. Well done on the fight shown regardless, from both sides.

Ned Lester should be asking how Reuben Love was not red carded. The referee was terrible. The Hurricanes were kept in the game by his poor decisions. Hopefully Braydon Ennor back sooner rather than later. He looked great when he returned. Chay Fihaki has his critics, but he is must pick on the wing. He is scoring great tries in every game.Well done to Scott Barrett.

Player Comparisons: Ireland improve while Red Roses start slowly

Not sure we watched the same game. England forwards controlled the set piece and their back row was good at the breakdown and made the first half a real contest but just achieved parity. The English backs looked dangerous all game and cut loose in the second half. The metres made stats just demonstrate that. O’Brien is a promising talent but her main asset is her kicking and England underestimated how far her kicks would go with the wind early on.
