Wales shock Ireland a year after suffering a 45-0 Six Nations loss

Wales made an impressive start to their TikTok Women’s Six Nations campaign by fighting back to beat Ireland 27-19 at the RDS Arena in Dublin.

A year after losing 45-0 against the same opponents, Wales launched their first campaign since awarding professional playing contracts in style.

Wales trailed by nine points early in the final quarter, but they rallied through three unanswered tries on either side of Ireland full-back Eimear Considine being yellow-carded.

We got a chance to meet some of the top players ahead of the Six Nations | Women’s Six Nations 2022

Substitute prop Donna Rose claimed a double, before centre Hannah Jones crossed two minutes from time, following earlier scores by Carys Phillips and Jasmine Joyce.

Robyn Wilkins kicked one conversion, with Wales claiming a bonus-point success after Ireland dominated early on.

The home side scored tries through Aimee-Leigh Murphy Crowe, Linda Djougang and Stacey Flood, with Nicole Cronin kicking two conversions.

But they were ultimately undone by resilient Wales, who showed they mean business after propping up the table in last season’s Six Nations.

Its a shame you dont know your rugby. SH test rugby is made up of many nations. 4 are in the top 5 and 2 are THE TOP TWO in the world and fought the last WC final out. Beat all NH sides by then. With Fiji in at 9 that puts 5 SH sides in the top 10 so your 7 claim is wrong. And SA also chooses test players from Japan so no doubt you rank that comp highly.

All this makes a real mockery of your claim that the playing talent is streets ahead. Of who? Only Ireland and France rank above Argentina.

Hooking stocks in NZ may never have been better. There are young players coming through in that position who have not even played Super rugby yet. Codie Taylor has to be the starter. He is a real leader in the All Blacks and Crusaders set ups. He came up with 2 ries on Saturday. Fellow Crusader Ioane Moananu, has been one of the light up the competition players this year. Scoring tries and being in to everything.The Chiefs Taukei’aho is likely to be in there, playing well. Either way, huge depth.

What’s undeniable is that Barrett is playing alongside much better players at Leinster than he would in NZ. And he is playing in more difficult conditions - from the Highveld in SA to freezing conditions in Scotland - which prepares you better for Test rugby than hopping over the Tasman for another game of touch rugby.

Haha thats funny and so easy to deny.. Even the Canes have a very talented side. If playing for the Canes he would have an AB at 1, 2, 3, Pom at 4, AB 7, AB 8, AB 9, AB 10, AB 13 with him at 12 and could well be amongst 11 other ABs if they started them all in the same match. Dream on all you like but those ABs beat Ireland not just Leinster.

I think the Wallabies would be mad to not pick James O’Connor. The way he has played for the Crusaders, highlighted by his winning kick in the wet against the Blues. But he has options. I am so pleased for Rivez Reihana . He played in a classy fashion off the bench against the Highlanders. Hardly any rugby , but a lot of prep work that came to fruition for him.

Conveniently forgetting the fact that ALTHO Barrett is playing in “the best club side in the NH” he is finding it easy to stand out as the standard allows him to look great.

NZR has never had money. Never been in the top 5 for $$ in the last 130 years. Seem to have done ok. Hows all your UK money going? Ireland still lose at WC 1/4 finals time, England and France cant get past the Semi’s in their own back yards. All the money in the world can only ever buy players like they do. Mercenaries wanting to play in world cups knowing they wont in their own country.
