What is the best forward pack that England can pick?

The Rugby Pod this week delved into the ever-evolving discussion that is England’s forward pack. England legend and scrum expert Ben Kay was luckily on hand to give his opinion on what he thought England’s options were in this area.

Zach Mercer and Sam Simmonds were hot topics in this discussion, with the trio finding it hard to place Nathan Hughes in England’s long-term plans. It is apparent from listening to this discussion that there are plenty of options for England to look at when it comes to the forward pack. However the key argument here is, which pack will win England the World Cup?

That absolute BS, when did you come up with this idea?


All three were well on track to being All Blacks. They simply decided it was smarter to take the money right now rather than slog on for another 3 or 4 years waiting for their opportunity to line up.


Many AB quality players have not even got the chance to earn a cap for heavens sake, it is simply as you suggest elsewhere, better utilization of global talent to have them qualify for another nation.


The only problem is that the ABs get all the best players, mostly because they pay more, and the island nations, even the home nations, just get those that can't make it or want a bit more limelight.

Except for a buzz and comments like those already posted, I do not get the point of publishing a World XV chosen by chauvinistic fans who are more into the Top14 and the Champions Cup.

It would have been way more interesting to post the World XV chosen by l’Équipe’s journalists, where there are 6 Saffas, 4 Kiwis and 3 French players, excluding Dupont.

I have been doing some research on immigration into Australia and it's revealing that the number of immigrants from the UK has been radically dropping over the last 30 years.The vast majority are from non rugby playing countries. It appears that the same trend is happening in NZ. If this continues it must mean that the number of Australasian players who qualify for the 4 home unions by dint of their parentage or grandparentage will greatly diminish in the future.

Toulouse with a Top14/EPCR double and only two of their players in this XV. If Willis was not English, he could have been left out as well. Mauvaka on the bench and Ramos not even in the 23 is very difficult to agree with.

On form it was not Ardie's best year . 2022-23 , the best . But he is a great. Jordie Barrett had a great year. Particularly pleased Will Jordan was selected and at Fullback. He came back late due to rehab and eventually was picked at 15, after being on the wing.Will is instinctive and intelligent as a 15. Codie Taylor is unlucky not to be picked. When he came back after a sabbatical to the Crusaders and during the AB's campaign he was inspirational. He had some stiff opposition in the All Blacks case to.
