Bio

Agathe Sochat currently plays as a hooker for the France women's rugby union team and Stade Bordelais. She has also played for Montpellier Hérault Sport Club Féminines. Sochat made her much-anticipated international debut in 2016.

Born on 21 May 1995, Agathe Sochat began playing rugby when she was just four years old. Her parents were very supportive of her talent and encouraged her to continue training while also studying in Bordeaux and Montpellier. She subsequently qualified as an occupational therapist.

Sochat's club career started at Stade Bordelais in 2013. She played for the club until 2016, when she transferred to Montpellier Hérault. Here she contested the Élite 1 National Championship and won three back-to-back titles in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Then, in 2021, she made the decision to return to Stade Bordelais.

Like her club career, her international career has followed an impressive trajectory. After playing in her first Six Nations in 2016, she won her first Championship in 2018. Sochat was a key figure at the tournament and crossed the try line three times: in France’s 26-3 win against Scotland, their 57-0 triumph over Italy and their 38-3 victory against Wales.

Three years later, in 2021, Sochat was named in the World Rugby Women’s 15s Dream Team of the Year. Next, in 2022, Sochat represented France at the delayed 2021 Rugby World Cup. She travelled to New Zealand and contested five fixtures, including all three of France’s knockout-stage matches.

More recently, Sochat has been a consistent feature at the Six Nations. She competed in every game at the 2023 and 2024 tournaments and scored a try in each tournament.

As a passionate and dedicated player, we're eager to see how the rest of Agathe Sochat's career unfolds.
