Bio

AJ MacGinty is a fly half who represents Sale Sharks and the USA Eagles. At the end of the 2021-22 season, he's due to move to Bristol Bears.

Born in Dublin on 26 February 1990, AJ MacGinty moved to America after he finished his studies at Blackrock College. During his time in the states, he played with NYAC in New York before moving to represent Life Running Eagles in Georgia while he completed a master's degree.

By 2015, AJ MacGinty had satisfied residency requirements. As a result, he made his debut for the USA in the Pacific Nations Cup. Following a string of impressive performances in the competition, he was named in USA's Rugby World Cup squad.

Due to his performances for the USA, AJ MacGinty received international attention in 2015. Following the Rugby World Cup, he signed to play for Connacht. In his only season with the Irish province, he helped them win the PRO12 (now the United Rugby Championship) for the first time in the side's history.

In 2016, AJ MacGinty signed for Sale Sharks. Since then, he's made 100 appearances for Sale and has scored more than 800 points. However, at the end of the 2021-22 season, he's set to leave the side and join Bristol Bears on a long-term deal.

Still with plenty to offer for the USA and a lot to prove at Sale and Bristol Bears, we can't wait to see what else AJ MacGinty can achieve in the game before he hangs up his boots.
