Bio
A dominant player in Super Rugby, Arabella McKenzie is a skillful fly-half. She currently represents the Australia women's rugby union team and NSW Waratahs. McKenzie joined the national team in 2019 and made her international debut during the same year.
Born on 1 March 1999, Arabella McKenzie spent her childhood in New South Wales, Australia. She lived in a small town called Lightning Ridge and attended a boarding school in Mittagong. A huge rugby league fan, she began playing the sport while at school. However, the 2016 Olympics inspired her to switch codes.
In 2017, McKenzie was selected to compete at the Commonwealth Youth Games. She faced Canada in the final and took home the gold medal. Just two years later, in 2019, she was signed to the Waratahs and made her first appearance with the Wallabies.
Over the next three years, McKenzie became known for her prowess on the pitch. She won three back-to-back Super Rugby W titles and was named Super W Player of the Year at the 2021 NSW Waratahs Awards. Her highlights included scoring 15 points during the final of the 2021 Super W season. She helped the Waratahs beat Queensland Reds and claim their fourth consecutive title.
With several spectacular seasons under her belt, McKenzie featured for Matatū for the inaugural Super Rugby Aupiki tournament in 2022. She also represented Australia at the 2022 Pacific Four Series, contested two tests at the Laurie O'Reilly Cup and competed at the delayed 2021 Rugby World Cup.
Next, McKenzie played in several tests throughout 2023 and 2024. This included the first ever WXV 1 season in 2023, scoring a brace against New Zealand at the 2024 Pacific Four Series and competing at the 2024 Laurie O’Reilly Cup.
In terms of her club career, it was announced that Arabella McKenzie had joined Harlequins Women in August 2022. She stayed with the Premiership side for one season before returning to her beloved Waratahs in 2024.
As a versatile player who is capable of playing as a fullback, fly-half and inside centre, we're eager to see what else Arabella McKenzie achieves.
