David Wallace Bio
A versatile flanker, David Wallace won almost every rugby trophy on the planet during his distinguished career. Throughout his playing days, he notched up more than 200 appearances for Munster and more than 70 appearances for Ireland. As a result, he’s considered to be one of the greats of the game.
Born 8 July 1976, David Wallace was educated at Crescent College and spent his amateur career at Garryowen. However, he made his debut for Munster in 1997. Between then and 2012, he made more than 200 appearances for the club and helped them capture a string of major honours, including three PRO14 titles (then the Celtic League and the Magners League), two Heineken Champions Cups and one Celtic Cup.
Due to his success with Munster, David Wallace was first selected to play for Ireland in 2000. Between then and 2011, he made 72 appearances for the national side, and he helped them win the Six Nations Grand Slam in 2009.
In addition to this, David Wallace was also selected to take part in two British and Irish Lions tours (2001 and 2009). On these tours, he was capped three times.
Sadly, David Wallace suffered from a knee injury in late 2011. Although he recovered, the injury ultimately forced him to retire in 2012.
Since retiring from the game, David Wallace has opened up a sweet shop in Limerick. Plus, in 2017, he joined the Bank of Ireland as a Business Development Manager for the Munster region.
