Jason White Bio
Jason White is one of the finest flankers to ever represent Scotland. Throughout his distinguished career, he was capped by his country 77 times and represented a number of Europe’s elite domestic sides, including the Glasgow Warriors, Sale Sharks and Clermont. Jason White was inducted into the RugbyPass Hall of Fame in 2021.
Before he began playing rugby professionally, Jason White enjoyed a stellar junior career. His rugby-playing days began with Aberdeen Wanderers RFC, but he was also asked to represent Scotland at both U18 and U21 level.
In 1996, Jason White then joined the Caledonia Reds. When the side merged with the team representing Glasgow in 1998, Jason White moved to the Glasgow Caledonians (now known as the Glasgow Warriors). He then stayed with the team until 2003, notching up 90 appearances for the Warriors in the process.
From here, Jason White moved to Sale Sharks in the English Premiership. Between 2003 and 2009, he made more than 100 appearances for the English club, and he helped the side win their first ever Premiership title. During this period, he was also voted as the Scotland Player of the Season (2005-06) and won the Guinness Premiership Player’s Player of the Year Award in the same season.
When his career with Sale came to a close in 2009, Jason White moved to France and represented Clermont in the Top 14. He then stayed with the club until he retired in 2012.
Although he enjoyed a stellar domestic career, Jason White is best known for his 77 test appearances for Scotland between 2000 and 2009. Of these, 19 came as captain. Due to his form for Scotland, he was also called up to the British and Irish Lions touring party for their tour of New Zealand in 2005.
Since retiring from rugby in 2012, Jason White has moved into teaching.
