In 2017, it was announced that Jean Deysel was leaving the Sharks in order to join Munster on loan. Following a successful stint with Munster, he was released from his Sharks contract and he signed for rivals Ulster. He then enjoyed a successful season with the Irish province before retiring from rugby in 2018.
