Lawrence Dallaglio Bio
Lawrence Dallaglio is one of the best players to ever wear an England shirt. A Rugby World Cup winner and a five-time Premiership champion, he’s also played on three British and Irish Lions tours and is a member of the World Rugby Hall of Fame. Lawrence Dallaglio was inducted into the RugbyPass Hall of Fame in 2021.
Born on 10 August 1972, Lawrence Dallaglio first played for Wasps in 1990. Although he had a playing career that spanned almost two decades, Dallaglio only ever represented Wasps at domestic level. During a glittering career, he won almost every competition available, including five Premiership titles, three Powergen Cups and two Heineken Champions Cups. His final title for Wasps came in his last ever appearance for the club and he was substituted to a standing ovation in the 67th minute.
In spite of his sustained level of success for Wasps, Lawrence Dallaglio is best known for his performances on the international stage. During his distinguished career, he won 85 caps for England between 1995 and 2007. During this period, he won the Six Nations Championship four times (including one Grand Slam) and he famously won the Rugby World Cup in 2003. In fact, Lawrence Dallaglio holds a rare distinction in the game because he’s one of only a handful of players who have won both the Rugby World Cup and the World Cup Sevens.
Due to his stellar performances for England, he also featured on three successive British and Irish Lions tours.
Lawrence Dallaglio retired in 2008 and was rightfully inducted into the World Rugby Hall of Fame in 2016. Since his retirement, he has largely taken up charity work but he also regularly features as a pundit on British TV. Due to his success in the game, he was also appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).
