Paul Sackey Bio
Paul Sackey was a highly decorated winger who represented England and the England Sevens side. At the domestic level, he played for a number of the world’s great sides, such as London Irish, London Wasps and Toulon.
Born 8 November 1979, Paul Sackey started playing rugby at the age of 17. His talent for the game showed immediately and he was spotted by a Wasps scout while still at school. Although he played for the Wasps U19 and U21 sides, he made his professional debut for the Bedford Blues. However, after only one season, he left for London Irish.
After making more than 100 appearances for London Irish between 2000 and 2005, Paul Sackey left the team to re-join Wasps. He was immediately successful on his return to Wasps and, in the same year he joined the side, he won the Premiership. A couple of years later, he won the Heineken Champions Cup.
However, after winning multiple Premierships with Wasps, Paul Sackey left for France when his contract expired in 2010. During his time in the Top 14, he represented Toulon (2010-11) and Stade Français (2011-13). Following this, he played for Harlequins for one season before he retired in 2014.
As well as enjoying a distinguished domestic career, Paul Sackey represented England 22 times between 2006 and 2009. He also played for the England Sevens side at the 2001 Rugby Sevens World Cup.
Since his retirement from rugby, Paul Sackey has held a number of roles in the private sphere and has launched several companies.
