Bio
A prolific try scorer, Tommy Seymour is a retired rugby union player who spent the majority of his professional career with United Rugby Championship side Glasgow Warriors. He also - through his Glasgow-born mother - played for the Scotland national team.
Born in Nashville, Tennessee, USA in July 1988, Tommy Seymour spent the first nine years of his life in America before moving briefly to Dubai and then to Belfast, Northern Ireland. He began his senior career with Ulster in 2010 and played predominately as a wing, although at times was deployed at fullback. Tommy Seymour then spent a short time with the provincial side before moving to Scotland to play for Glasgow Warriors in what was the Pro12 in 2011.
After spending a decade with the side, with over 150 appearances for them, Tommy Seymour is also now one of the Warriors' record try scorers. During his tenure in Glasgow, he helped his team to a Pro12 title in the 2014-15 season, as well as runners-up finishes in the 2013-14 and 2018-19 Pro14 seasons, respectively. He also featured in the Pro12 'Team of the Year' in 2014-15 and 2016-17. Before he retired from the game in 2021, he also had short spells with Marr RFC and Currie in the Scottish Premiership.
With his diverse heritage, after initially representing Ireland as an U19, Tommy Seymour opted to play for Scotland at international level and qualified for this through his mother, Sue. He earned his first call up in 2012 for the autumn internationals but didn't make his debut until 2013. In total he made 55 appearances for Scotland and scored 20 tries, putting him in the top 10 of Scotland's all-time points scorers. Tommy Seymour featured in two Rugby World Cups and is remembered for the notable achievement of scoring a try in four consecutive games in the 2015 tournament.
Tommy Seymour was also called up to the British & Irish Lions tour in 2017 to New Zealand and although he didn't play in any tests, he did appear in four games for the side, scoring three tries.
