The HSBC SVNS series for 2024 concludes at the Cívitas Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid.
From the 31st May to the 2nd of June, this wonderful stadium will host the competition’s Grand Final. At rugby sevens Madrid, expect to enjoy thrilling rugby matches, delicious food and immersive cultural experiences.
The Madrid Sevens event, officially known as HSBC SVNS Madrid or HSBC SVNS MAD, will be one of the biggest sporting and music events of the year. Plus, this is the inaugural Grand Final, so those present will be part of history.

Which Teams are Taking Part in HSBC SVNS Madrid?
The format for the Madrid 7s event for 2024 is different to the format that has been used in the other HSBC SVNS tournaments throughout the year.
In Madrid, the top eight ranked teams will compete to be crowned Series champions, while the teams ranked ninth to 12th will join the top four ranked teams from the Challenger Series in a high stakes relegation play-off that will see four teams secure their place in the next edition of the Series.
The four unsuccessful teams will go into regional competitions to qualify for the next Challenger Series, which comprises 12 men’s and 12 women’s teams. This is the second level of international rugby sevens.
The 12 men’s and 12 women’s teams that have featured throughout the HSBC SVNS Series and will definitely feature at Madrid Sevens 2024 include:

These teams will be joined by four sides from the Challenger Series. These teams are yet to be confirmed.
As the HSBC SVNS Series is still underway, it remains to be seen which of the above 24 sides will be competing for the championship and which will feature in the play-off. One thing we do know is that each match will include incredibly high stakes!
What is the Madrid Rugby Sevens Schedule?
The Madrid rugby sevens schedule is yet to be confirmed, as we’re waiting to see which teams qualify for the championship-deciding games and which will battle in the relegation play-offs.
However, we do know that the event will start on Friday 31st May and will conclude on Sunday 2nd June. All three days of the event will be packed with exciting, high intensity matches.
The final match schedule will likely be released following the HSBC SVNS Singapore tournament at the start of May.

Will Madrid Sevens Return in 2025?
Yes, Madrid is scheduled to host the Grand Final of the reimagined World Rugby Sevens Series for three years. This means the event will return in both 2025 and 2026.
