Tasman Mako Rugby Team

The Tasman rugby team, which is also known as the Tasman Mako, is a professional rugby team that plays in New Zealand's Bunnings NPC competition. The team is also affiliated with the Crusaders Super Rugby franchise.

On this page, you'll find all the latest information about the Tasman rugby team, including the side's latest results and upcoming fixtures. You'll also discover a detailed history of the side and a breakdown of their current squad.

The Tasman rugby team is a relatively new side and it joined the Bunnings NPC competition back in 2006. By comparison, most of the other teams have been around since the competition began in 1976.

However, despite being a new side, the Tasman rugby team has already been more successful in the competition than a number of the founding teams. They started by winning the championship division of the competition when it was known as the ITM Cup in 2013. Since then, they've also been crowned as the overall champions of the competition twice, in 2019 and 2020. In 2021, they finished as the competition's runners-up.

Today, the Tasman rugby team plays in the premiership division of the Bunnings NPC. The team plays its home games at either Lansdowne Park in Blenheim or Trafalgar Park in Nelson, which are both in the Tasman region.

As one of the competition's elite sides, the Tasman rugby squad is unsurprisingly stacked with star players. This includes several international All Blacks stars, such as Tyrel Lomax, Atu Moli and Ethan Blackadder.

On top of this, most players in the Tasman rugby squad are contracted to play Super Rugby. Although the majority of these players are contracted to play for the Highlanders, the team also has players who represent Moana Pasifika, the Crusaders, the Blues, the Fijian Drua and the Chiefs.
